The Grand Prize – a $25,000 grant to help animals – goes to the South Wood County Humane Society, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

I only heard about this a few days ago when I posted it on my blog December 11th.  I did go each day and cast my vote and I hope some others did too. Anyways a lot of people did go online and voted for the Wisconsin Rapids Humane Society and they won.  $25,000 will help a lot of animals in Wood County.

This weekend our cat Zoie, which we rescued from a Humane Society in IL. got a Christmas gift from her two cat cousins Leo and Buzz.  They gave her a pair of those mylar balls.  To show her thanks she asked me to film her playing with one of the balls.  I did and posted it to YouTube.  You can view it here.

I just learned tonight that a local shelter in my area is in second place to win this grant.  What a great gift this would be for their shelter. We rescued our cat 6 years ago from a shelter and I hold a soft place in my heart for everyone involved.  I don’t know how they got that many votes since it’s a pretty small town but they did and with only a few days left to vote you can be sure I’ll do my part with a vote a day till Dec 14th.
