Cats!

Well Sarah learned her lesson.  You can’t put a catnip cat gift under the tree before Christmas. Zoie found it within an hour or so. I came in from snow-blowing and my husband said she got into her gift. I guess he liked it.  Sarah should have known better because that cat has eaten every ribbon, bow and ornament near that tree since we brought her home 7 years ago.

This year my husband set out to make a cat proof tree.  I thought he was going to hang it upside-down from the ceiling but he had a better idea.  He bought all new ornaments and garlands.  The ornaments are unbreakable and the garlands are plastic beads.  Nothing on the tree has any sentimental value so we won’t be crushed if she destroys it.

It seems to be working, we have only found a few ornaments on the floor this year. Now we just need to remember not to wrap with ribbons and bows. Oh and not to place catnip under the tree.

We place the opened catnip gift in my son’s room with the door closed and the cat knows it’s in there.  She spends a lot of time laying outside his door.

Only two more days Zoie and you get your gift.

While I’m on the subject of Cats I just wanted to share with you our cats favorite toy. Pictured above is a milk jug with the two parts of the twist off cap.  Zoie’s favorite toy is that open ring from under the cap.   She has a ball playing with them. She can throw it across the room with her mouth like a frisbee or get it rolling like a wheel.

Since I blog about money saving ideas I thought this would fit right in.  It’s so cheap you might say it’s Free with the milk carton  and it’s recycling so it’s “Green”.  It’s so handy I bet you have one in the frig right now.

The Grand Prize – a $25,000 grant to help animals – goes to the South Wood County Humane Society, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

I only heard about this a few days ago when I posted it on my blog December 11th.  I did go each day and cast my vote and I hope some others did too. Anyways a lot of people did go online and voted for the Wisconsin Rapids Humane Society and they won.  $25,000 will help a lot of animals in Wood County.

This weekend our cat Zoie, which we rescued from a Humane Society in IL. got a Christmas gift from her two cat cousins Leo and Buzz.  They gave her a pair of those mylar balls.  To show her thanks she asked me to film her playing with one of the balls.  I did and posted it to YouTube.  You can view it here.
