So there’s a new Kindle in the family and it’s the big daddy, Kindle DX. 

As you can see above the screen is much larger so that means less page turning. The DX screen is 9.7″ diagonal E Ink and can also be view in landscape mode.   It holds 3,500 books and also holds pdf’s.  The battery life is 4 days with wireless on and two weeks with wireless off. 

While I know the cost of this new gadget,  at almost $500.00 is expensive and not for everyone.  It can save you money if you purchase a lot of reading material.  It will also save you a lot of shelf space.  Kindle versions of books and newspaper do cost less than their paper copies, not to mention all the trees you’ll be saving.

I think that all college text books should be offered in Kindle format.  A college student could be ahead the very first semester cost-wise and just think how light their backpacks would be.

Kindle was released about a year ago and it has far surpassed Amazons highest hopes.  I’m sure Oprah’s feature of the Kindle had something to do with it.

I purchased a Flip Video Mino for myself as an early Christmas present because I found a good deal on one. I used it a few days ago to make a video and loved how easy it was to use. Take a look  I set it on a tripod and started recording myself doing a car repair. 

I loved how small it is.   The picture quality was perfect. I don’t have to worry about loading tapes and finding the cords to upload to the computer. It will record 60 minutes digitally. It recharges on my computer so no need for batteries.  The Mino retails for $179.00 but I got mine for around 159.00.  Ebay has some great deals on the Mino.

I’ve been hearing a lot about Amazon.com lately. Maybe it’s because I’ve been paying more attention since eBay has been making so many changes and my sales there are down.

Last night I happened to watch Mad Money and Cramer opened with a little history of Amazon.com and said it was a good time to BUY BUY BUY the stock.  He mentioned the changes at eBay and that Amazon’s Christmas sales last year were higher than eBay’s.

He also brought up the Kindle, Amazon’s electronic reading device. Downloads for Kindle format books are rising steadily. It’s a great new device that can download your book purchase anywhere using cell phone technology. Talk about instant gratification. Cramer thinks it will have sales like the ipod and iphone.

I’m in the learning and set up stages of selling books on Amazon.  It’s one of my Fall goals once the kids are back in school. I recently read Selling On The River  By Steve Lindhorst and learned a lot there about how to start selling on Amazon.

With today’s economy and the ever changing rules on eBay, starting new streams of income is a good move. It looks like Amazon is a great place to sell and not just for books and movies, you can find just about everything there, new and used.  That’s why I say Sell, Sell, Sell your stuff on Amazon.

Look Out eBay I think Amazon’s current is stronger.

Amazon has just lowered the price of their Kindle by $40.00. The Kindle is a wireless reading device. You can read books, newspapers, blogs, emails and magazines all from this one small light weight electronic device.  Not only that you can purchase books using the same technology as a cell phone. Amazon now carries over 130,000 titles ready to download to your Kindle with more being added daily.

While this new technology will take some getting use to for us book lovers just imagine what it could do for students.  Have you ever tried to pick up your kids backpack stuffed with school books?  What a great thing if all their textbooks would be offered via the Kindle format. I’m sure they will be soon.  People that travel can now carry many books with them in this one gadget.  It also has many features a book doesn’t offer.
